Physiotherapy
Acupuncture
Pilates

Acupuncture is widely used in western medicine and by Physiotherapists. It is mainly used for pain relief by stimulating the body's own pain mechanisms.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of 'one use' sterile needles. The needles are very fine and so just give a pinprick sensation. The needles are left in for 10 to 30 minutes and then removed. They are made from stainless steel and have no other substance on them.

Most people are able to have acupuncture to treat any type of pain or injury. Your Physiotherapist will discuss all aspects of the treatment with you, and any reason you are not appropriate for acupuncture.

The majority of people respond well to acupuncture and find it a very relaxing form of treatment.

All the Physiotherapist at Canterbury Physiotherapy are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

They are experts in the assessing and treatment of musculo-skeletal pain and disorders. Physiotherapy treatments used include manual therapy, exercise advice, taping, electrotherapy (ultrasound) clinical pilates and acupuncture.

Good posture, muscle strength and flexibility alongside general fitness can be the key to avoiding a significant number of musculo-skeletal disorders in the office and other work environments. Pilates, unlike other forms of exercise is a total conditioning program that works on your body from the inside out by focusing on the core muscles, notably the abdomen, back and pelvic girdle region. Pilates works on strengthening, lengthening and toning the muscles as well as improving posture and balance.

Individual and group sessions are offered by Beccy Wiles, an experienced Pilates instructor and a Chartered physiotherapist.
