• Acupuncture

  • Acupuncture is widely used in western medicine and by Physiotherapists. It is mainly used for pain relief by stimulating the body's own pain mechanisms.Acupuncture involves the insertion of 'one use' sterile needles. The needles are very fine and so just give a pinprick sensation. The needles are left in for 10 to 30 minutes and then removed. They are made from stainless steel and have no other substance on them.
Most people are able to have acupuncture to treat any type of pain or injury. Your Physiotherapist will discuss all aspects of the treatment with you, and any reason you are not appropriate for acupuncture.

The majority of people respond well to acupuncture and find it a very relaxing form of treatment.
